Blair Drummond Safari Park - Top day out for all the family!

What an amazing day we had at Blair Drummond!!

Again, the weather was super hot ๐ŸŒž.  We decided to do the drive-through as soon as we arrived (from past experience it can get really busy at the end of the day)  and the kids loved getting to see the rhinos, antelope, lions and monkeys up close and personal!  To check out the live giraffe & rhino webcams click here.  I was driving so didn't manage to get as many pictures as I'd have liked but it is amazing being so close...albeit from the safety of your car! ๐Ÿ˜‚

FYI - The car parks are massive so no need to worry about finding a space! ๐Ÿ‘Œ  We decided to have our picnic before starting off and chose a nice spot next to the adventure park.  The park is amazing and has lots for big kids & little kids -  my 3yo would've gladly stayed there all day!  If you'd rather a quieter spot, there's loads of benches and seating areas dotted throughout the park.

First stop was the dinosaurs (presumably the ones we hiked to the top of Edinburgh Zoo to see, only to find a portaloo ๐Ÿ™ˆ - if you haven't already, you can read about it here), then we visited the giraffes, elephant, zebra and lions, before heading to Lemur Island.  Lemur Island was probably the biggest hit with everyone - the lemurs roam around freely and they're not shy about getting up close and personal!

Sadly, the zookeeper talks have been cancelled due to COVID but visitors can scan QR codes to access pre-recorded versions, which I though was a nice touch.  If you want to listen for yourself, just click here.

We finished the day with another play in the park and a visit to the fairground, which was great fun and good value for money (5 tickets for ยฃ5; all rides cost 1 ticket).

Sadly COVID restrictions means that the sea-lion show, boat to monkey island and zookeeper talks are temporarily cancelled but don't let that put you off.  We had a fantastic day and thought it was great value for money!

  1. Our family of 4 had a lovely trip to Blairdrummond on the last bank holiday in May and my 3 year old still talks about all the animals and especially the dinosaurs she saw from that visit! We have visited a fair few times over the years and this recent visit did not disappoint. It is pricey for tickets (most places are) but spent very little when in the park. The weather was on our side too but from the swing park to dinosaur park to the animal reserves and petting farm there was plenty for us to do and keep the kids entertained. The only small down side was the kids rides were closed due to covid but were still on display...again very small con!!
