M&Ds Scotland's Theme Park - all you need to know for a great day out!

Image
I should probably start this one by saying that if you want to spend the full day here, you had better be prepared to spend big money! πŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ Due to COVID, daily wristbands are now only available to season pass holders, meaning you can only use the rides by buying "fun points".  Points are Β£1 each and rides vary between 2-3 points for each ride.  This doesn't seem a lot but if you're going with three kids, it can quickly rack up!  For a full list of prices  click here. The park is open from 10.30am - 6.00pm on peak days. However, all rides close from 2pm-2.30pm, meaning most people move inside to the massive indoor arcade πŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ.  There's a great range of games, along with an indoor carousel, bowling alley, snooker & air hockey tables and a variety of sit in and takeaway eateries.   They also have Devils Island Mini-golf and Amazonia Indoor Rainforest on-site, along with lots of food stalls, all reasonably priced. Amazonia is fairly small so the ki...

Troon Beach - sun, sea and sand for an amazing family day out!

Image
With all the unusually warm weather we've been getting here in Scotland, we decided to meet up with family and take a take a trip to Troon beach.   We arrived around 11am and the main section of the beach looked really busy.  As we were there in a group (6 adults & 6 kids) we wanted to be further up the beach, away from the crowds.  We managed to find street parking (see map) with a lane adjacent leading to the beach πŸ™Œ However, lane is quite narrow and the steps are sandy so do take care! We picked a spot and set up camp πŸŽͺ I had spent the entire journey (and the day before) raving about this amazing sand-proof picnic blanket that I had seen on a facebook ad, where the sand literally filters through it 😍  I can 100% confirm that said blanket is not sand-proof in any way, shape or form! πŸ˜‘  Having said that, it is lightweight and folds into a tiny pouch, so not an entirely useless buy.  If you're as gullible as me and thinking of buying one for yo...

Blair Drummond Safari Park - Top day out for all the family!

Image
What an amazing day we had at Blair Drummond!! Again, the weather was super hot 🌞.  We decided to do the drive-through as soon as we arrived (from past experience it can get really busy at the end of the day)  and the kids loved getting to see the rhinos, antelope, lions and monkeys up close and personal!  To check out the live giraffe & rhino webcams click  here .  I was driving so didn't manage to get as many pictures as I'd have liked but it is amazing being so close...albeit from the safety of your car! πŸ˜‚ FYI - The car parks are massive so no need to worry about finding a space! πŸ‘Œ  We decided to have our picnic before starting off and chose a nice spot next to the adventure park.  The park is amazing and has lots for big kids & little kids -  my 3yo would've gladly stayed there all day!  If you'd rather a quieter spot, there's loads of benches and seating areas dotted throughout the park. First stop was the dinosaurs (presumabl...

Edinburgh Zoo - what's at the top of the steepest hill EVER?

Image
πŸ…πŸ†πŸ’πŸ§πŸ¨πŸΌ First of all, I should mention that the weather was freakishly warm on the day we visited.  We travelled by car (me and the kids in one car; my mum, sis & bro in another) and when we got there the carpark (normally Β£4) was free...fab! Or so we thought!  The car park was heaving and as it's a one way system, we ended up in a queue of harassed drivers, while an equally harassed woman tried to successfully execute a reverse park πŸ˜’...35 minutes later and said woman finally makes it into the space - you can practically hear the collective sigh of relief!  We decided to leave the car park of doom and easily found a spot at a business park across the street (see map).  We joined the small queue and were in within 5 mins.  The zoo is a great family day out - there's loads of animals to see:  lions, tigers, koalas, and giraffes to name a few.  Unfortunately the big cats were nowhere to be seen on the day of our visit (probably due to the 30Β°C ...

Welcome - where will you choose for a top family day out this summer?

Image
Hey and welcome to my blog! πŸ˜€ As we all know, the dreaded coronavirus has had a massive impact on all our lives; but as lockdown eases and life starts to return to some sort of normality, mums across the country are currently having a freak out trying to organise days out to keep their little ones entertained over summer.  Don’t get me wrong, I ain’t judging!  I have three kids (sometimes demons 😈) of my own and I know all too well how hard it is to keep them entertained for the seven eternally long weeks otherwise known as the "summer holidays".  I mean, it’s a struggle to go more than seven minutes without one of the kids needing a drink/snack/whatever; or having to act as a referee as they have all-out battles over who was sitting where first! 😩  I’ve literally been interrupted at least 12 times in the last five minutes because my darling 3yo is adamant that he NEEDS a mint aero…it’s 6.52am wee man, that’s so not happening! Anyway, I’ve decided in my infinite w...
